In today’s blistering information age, a wealth of historical knowledge is at our fingertips. This data has both advantages and disadvantages. Access is easier than ever before, but weeding through this abundance can feel arduous. While we no longer need to rely on textbooks or sanctioned school curricula, we require a pruning tool to navigate this vast Internet world. Our site, TruthTeeTold, serves as a first stop and, potentially, a one-stop platform that can offer a steady hand while exhuming, exploring, and sharing stories of the long-forgotten who sacrificed flesh and blood in the making of America. TruthTeeTold is a resource that can streamline the labor and prevent us from falling into the black hole of the Internet.

At TruthTeeTold, we curate great content for easy access and consumption. We encourage you to begin your history education by reading the books and articles presented here. By wearing and carrying history and engaging others in conversation about American history, our collective stories need not die. Here, you can learn and teach yourself the history that was never told to you. Join our collective effort to exhume buried history and give new life to the past. There is no better time than now, especially now, to reclaim American history. We are unapologetic in our resistance to the erasing, sanitizing, and whitewashing of American history in lame justification to protect the fragile from feelings of “discomfort.” Such fears are expressed by those who are ignorant of how to teach age- and developmentally appropriate materials. These fears are rooted in denial and a preference for advancing myths about the past and present. You know the saying, “each one, teach one.”

Through the miracle of technology and the creativity of educators, parents, social justice warriors, and others- both appointed and self-appointed caretakers of history- all converge here, in these times, to appreciate and support the stories that comprise American history. We must correct the manufactured narratives, complete the stories half-told and not told at all, and proclaim to others the stories of this nation. Moving forward begins with and includes facing the past—in all its complexities, the good, the bad, and the ugly. As others have wisely stated, we may not have come to America on the same ship, but we're all in the same boat now. There is room for us all; we reject the zero-sum mentality. Together, we can prevent the ship from sinking. TruthTeeTold promotes American history in all its patinas. Whether we like it or not, we are in this together. To borrow the late historian Howard Zinn’s title, this site is a People's History of the United States.
